Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based therapy model developed by Richard Schwartz in the1980s, which has been continaully growing and expanding into the mainstream, making it one of the most sought-after therapy approaches of today. IFS provides a lens through which to uncover and heal the patterns, beliefs, and "parts" within us that influence our emotions and behaviours. The reason so many people choose IFS is that it is non-pathologising, effective and grounded in compassion.
The key is learning to accept ourselves for who we truly are. IFS is not only a therapy model, it is a tool for life.
What to expect from individual therapy or coaching
What is a first session like?
When you contact me, I will arrange a free 30-minute video or telephone call. During this session, I will take the time to get to know you and understand your reasons for seeking support. This initial conversation will allow you to decide, with no obligation, whether I am the right therapist for you.
How long will it take to see results?
Each person is different, but results with IFS therapy are often fast. Many people begin to see changes right away as they learn a new way of working with their inner systems and often report relief from emotional stress or 'stuckness' within a few sessions.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you may need will vary depending on your situation. However, as a general guideline, 5-10 sessions are typically sufficient for coaching situations, such as making an important life decision, while15-30 sessions are generally needed for therapy that explores and heals the root causes of presenting symptoms or disorders, such as anxiety, PTSD, or an eating disorder.
How often should I come?
Again, this depends on each person's specific needs, but I typically recommend weekly sessions for the first four sessions. After that, the interval can be extended if desired. Following an initial intensive period, many clients come back intermittetly for on-demand sessions, which can be booked flexibly.
Online or in-person sessions?
I offer sessions both online and in person, as I believe both formats offer equal benefits. If you’re in Leipzig, why not give in-person sessions a try? Otherwise, online sessions are a convenient and equally effective option from the comfort of your home.
How long is a session?
I offer a choice between 60 and 90-minute sessions.
What are the costs?
The first 30-minute video or telephone call is free of charge.
Subsequent sessions cost €70 for 60 minutes or €90 for 90 minutes.
Fees for therapy are exempt from VAT.
Are the costs covered by the health insurance?
Generally costs are not covered by the health insurance. If you have private health insurance and think you may be eligible for reimbursement, please check with your insurer.
