Couples Therapy

Understanding each other, changing patterns, and finding your way back to connection

I trained in couples therapy using the Developmental Model, one of the leading approaches to couples therapy today. I also draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method in my work with couples. These approaches help you understand where you are stuck and use targeted interventions that you can take outside of the therapy room. My approach will help you improve communication and work with deeper underlying issues instead of going round in circles. I lead couples in a structured and targeted way, with a focus on helping you make meaningful progress. Expect homework!

What to expect from Couples Therapy

How does it work in the beginning?

Before the first session I arrange a free 45--minute meeting with you and your partner to assess suitablility and understand the main issues. After that, we schedule sessions of either 60 or 90 minutes depending on your preference.

How frequent are the sessions?

I generally recommend starting with weekly sessions, as this gives us continuity and allows us to work consistently with the patterns that are bringing you to therapy. We can adjust the frequency as we go.

How long will it take to see results?

Every couple is different, so there is no fixed timeline. Some couples notice changes quite quickly, while deeper changes can take more time and practice. As a general guideline, I ask couples to commit to at least six months of therapy, giving us the time and consistency needed to work meaningfully with your relationship patterns. How long you continue beyond that depends on your needs and progress.

How do we know if we have a solvable problem?

Couples often feel that their challenges are too difficult to overcome. However, no problem is insurmountable as long as both partners are willing to put in the effort.

We are not sure if we want to stay together, is this right for us?

Yes, couples therapy helps clarify and guide the decision of whether to stay together.

We want to separate, is this right for us?

Yes, couples therapy is also beneficial for couples who decide to separate, helping them do so in the best possible way.

Online or in-person sessions?

I offer sessions both online and in person. Personally, I see equal benefits in both formats. If you are in Leipzig, then why not try in person? Otherwise, online sessions from the comfort of your home are equally effective.

How long is a session?

Couples session can be booked at 60 or 90 minutes.

What are the costs?

An initial 45-minute meeting, either online or in my office, is free of charge.

Sessions are charged at €100 for 60 minutes or €140 for 90 minutes.

*All prices include VAT, where applicable.

**I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spaces for clients who cannot afford the standard fee. Please contact me.

Are the costs covered by health insurance?

Generally costs are not covered by the health insurance. If you have private health insurance and think you may be eligible for reimbursement, please check with your insurer.
